BJAUMB/SD 2711258 -- This well established organisation provides a wide range of services that contribute to the enhancement of the lives of many children with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. Feedback from their current team has been extremely positive in terms of the way they are treated and respected and how they feel they contribute to overall success of the service provided. The case load will consist of new referrals of children in special pre-school classes, children in special classes and generic classes in community schools. This post will also incorporate developing public awareness of autistic spectrum disorders and research and training of other staff.
Responsibilities:
To co-ordinate and monitor the caseload in order that clients and families receive optimum benefit from the Psychological service.
Undertake Psychological assessments and carry out appropriate therapy for clients and those referred to the service on a residential or day attendance basis.
Maintaining proper records of services provided, ensuring all client assessments are filed appropriately in a manner compatible with the F.O.I. act.
Initiate, implement and monitor programmes as appropriate to the professional standards of a psychologist also to monitor and assess the clients progress and make adjustments as necessary to programmes.
Provide on-going support, information and assistance to employees in carrying out programmes with clients.
Maintaining collaborative working relationships with Psychology colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Provide professional reports as necessary and co-operate in appropriate research projects approved by the Service.
Maintain detailed statistical or other records relating to psychology.
To furnish as requested reports or other statistical information.
To work as part of the multi disciplinary team and participate in case conferences as requested.
Participate in the supervision of basic grade Psychologists and the training of Psychology students if necessary.
Monitoring and keeping up to date with new developments in the area of Psychology.
Participate in the annual performance review system.
Ensure that each person with Autism is treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
Ensure the health and safety policy is fully complied with.
To maintain a high standard in relation to assessment, diagnostic, therapeutic and recording procedures.
Maintaining and promoting good relationships with all other disciplines and working within the agreed policies and codes of practice.
Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in relation to all aspects of work.
Requirements:
Must hold a degree or diploma in Psychology
Have at least 5 years post graduate experience.
An advantage to be validated with The Department of Health & Children.
Ideally have experience working with children with Autism and intellectual disabilities.
